Ingredients:
3 1/2 cups water 2/3 cup dried or fresh elderberries 2 tbsp dried or fresh ginger 1 tsp cinnamon 1/2 ground clove 1 cup raw honey (local is best) Peel and grate ginger if using fresh. Add all ingredients, except the honey, to a medium sauce pan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cover, leaving lid ajar to let steam escape for about 45 minutes, reducing liquid by about half. Strain the liquid into a glass bowl or measuring cup. Cool to luke warm and then mix in 1 cup of honey. *You don't want to get the honey too hot or it will lose its beneficial qualities* Elderberry syrup has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-viral qualities. It's also high in vitamins A and C and has been used to help treat the symptoms of colds and the flu. This should NEVER be used in place of medical treatment, but it is a wonderful option to increase immunity and treat mild symptoms. Stay home. <3
